May 28- Ch. 28

The priests and Jewish leaders thought Jesus was a heretic during his ministry.  You would think after hearing from the soldiers what had happened at the tomb they would have softened their position and began to wonder if Jesus was who he said he was.  After all the soldiers would have had no reason to lie.  But instead they plotted to bury the truth.

    I agree that the story should have given them pause–and maybe it did for some. What has come down to us is the story promulgated by the most powerful of the leaders–those who could dominate the situation and those around them. I have had that same thought when they didn’t recognize that he fulfilled some of the messianic prophesies.
