Apr. 26- Ch. 26

As Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, I can’t help but wonder what was going through the disciples’ minds. Today we take communion and don’t think about it being strange or different. However that Passover night the disciples had to have been wondering what all of this meant.

  1. Larry Martin says:

Jesus knew who would betray him. At the Lord’s Supper Jesus gave all the disciples bread and said this is my body eat. After giving thanks he gave them the cup saying drink from it all of you. This is My blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. When Judas came he was with a great multitude with arms from the chief priests and elders of the people. After Judas kissed Him, Jesus said “Friend, do what you have come for.” Did Jesus look upon Judas with compassion because He knew that Judas had to be left open to the entering of the devil so that the prophesies would be fulfilled? Jesus gave Judas the bread and told him to eat. Jesus gave him of the cup and told him to drink. Jesus, at the time Judas betrayed him with a kiss called him friend. I doubt that I in a similar situation I would say I forgive you. I am sorry I could not protect you from the entering of the devil. I call and think of you as friend.
