Apr. 24- Ch. 24

So this morning I want to focus in on v. 34 of this chapter, “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.” I have wondered why Jesus would say this and turn around and says somewhere else say only the Father knows the timing of the end times (see v. 36). Well there was a footnote in the Bible version I am reading this month, New American Standard, that says the Greek word translated “generation” could also mean “race.” See http://biblehub.com/greek/1074.htm. If the Greek is translated race, then the fact that Jesus said what he said would make a bit more sense.

  1. Larry Martin says:

The signs of Christ’s return. Before Christ comes again we live in a world of peril. There will be threats of war, wars between nations, famines, earthquakes, a great tribulation such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world. There will be lawlessness. We live in that world today. Our task is to be the faithful servant to give the world food, the food of the work of God. Our danger is not out of fear or hope to chase after false profits but to keep doing what God directs us. How often I want someone to come and make it all alright. Help me Lord to be the faithful and sensible servant talked about in verses 45 and 46.

This may be something like I said previously, but we are now having “great earthquakes” and they wouldn’t have known how to express global warming’s effects. I am of the opinion “we ain’t seen nothin’ yet” and I’m personally expecting to get to miss the worst. But when our generation can mitigate some of these problems, I feel very strongly we as followers of Christ should be on the front lines.
