Mar. 27- Ch. 27

I just realized something this morning.  I wondered how Matthew and the rest of the Synoptic Gospel writers knew that the veil of the temple was torn when Jesus died.  The only group of people that would have known that were the priests that served in the temple.  My guess is some of those priests may have been followers of Jesus, otherwise the fact that the veil was torn would have not gotten out to his followers.

I had thought about that too. This caused me to reread the chapter. What stuck out at me is it was the Roman guards who said that he was surely the son of God based on I take it the darkening of the sun and the earthquakes. I wonder if the common people felt the same way.
