Mar. 23- Ch. 23

Most of the woes are easy to say “not me” to.  However this one hits close to home, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint, dill, and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith.”  How often do we nitpick the lesser things of God, and ignore things like mercy and justice?  I think that is one of the things that has managed to turn the twenty- thirty somethings off to the church.

One Response to Mar. 23- Ch. 23

  1. Larry Martin says:

Chapter 23 is the woe chapter. The woes are to the actions of the leaders and Pharisees. The chapter starts with a direction. It says in verse 2 they sit in the seat of Moses. Therefore whatever they tell you to observe do and observe. Their problem is that they say and do not; therefore, the woes. We as believers with the guide of the Holy Spirit sit in the seat of Moses today. Woe to us if in our belief we say and preach one thing but do something else. Are not our actions to match what we say we believe?
