Feb. 23- Ch. 23

How the Sadducees and Pharisees delude themselves.  ”And you say that if you had lived in the days of your ancestors, no blood would have been on your hands.”  They had no idea they were going to kill the greatest prophet of all, God’s son.  I know I have deluded myself about what I am capable of doing.  I think we all have.

  1. Larry Martin says:

This is the chapter of the woes. It came to me that it is tied to Chapter 22 and the parable of the marriage feast. We all have been invited to the feast where we are the bride, the church, and Jesus is the groom. But how often have we in the church acted as the scribes and Pharisees, subscribing a way of life onto others that we do not follow ourselves. We may look pious by our dress and in worldly ways and seek worldly acclaim, but our not dressed in wedding clothes provided by God. Woe to us when we act as hypocrites. We need to live the two great commandments. Love the Lord you God with all you heart, and with all your soul, and with all you mind. Love you neighbor as yourself. You do this and you will be dressed in the wedding clothes.
