July 22- 1 John 1

This is a incredible image John gives us, “And now we’re telling you in most sober prose that what we witnessed was, incredibly, this: The infinite Life of God himself took shape before us.”  Think about that…”The infinite Life of God himself took shape before us.”  Man does that make me want to have been there to be one of the 12!!!

The first two verses of this chapter refer to Jesus in an abstract “third person” manner. John refers to “the life” as though it were an object, but says that “it” was “eternal life” and was with the Father. Jesus is life and thus brought all aspects of life to his time on earth. In the latter part of verse 3 he changes the focus to what he has seen and heard and with whom we can have fellowship, along with the Father. Closely parsing out this introductory passage makes it even more beautiful and inspiring.

I agree with all you say here. This first chapter of 1 John is probably my favorite chapter of the Bible.
