Apr. 20- John 20

I was talking with someone recently about John as possibly the “other disciple” in chapter 18 that was known by the high priest.  Who that disciple is is not clear.  However, in this chapter John definitely refers to himself as “the other disciple, the one Jesus loved.” So it is a good possibility that John referred to himself as “the other disciple” in chapter 18 as well.

    In the context of thinking of John as “connected” socially and politically, he may–even at the age he was when he wrote the gospel–have wanted to be somewhat cagey about who he was as an author.

      By the time John wrote his Gospel, he was probably in his 70’s. I thought all 70 year olds were “cagey.” LOL
