Mar. 21- John 21

I want to talk a little more about Peter’s asking about John.  I said in an earlier post that God had granted John long life to care for Mary.  And, it is my belief, God gave him the gift of the vision of Revelation for fulfilling that duty.  As John heard the rumor developing about himself that he would not die, I wonder what ran through his head.  Obviously he did not believe the rumor because he wrote, “But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, ‘If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?’”  Still one has to wonder what John thought about the rumor.  I have to laugh because the incident bring to mind what happened to Mark Twain when it was erroneously reported he had died.  The quote attributed to him is, “The report of my death is greatly exaggerated.”  I wonder if John thought, “The report of my never ending life is greatly exaggerated.”
