Sept. 25- Ch. 25

On the parable of the virgins. I think Jesus is telling his disciples not to be short-sighted when it comes to viewing the circumstances of life. We always need to keep the bigger picture in mind- God’s picture. It may not be clear, we may not understand it, but nevertheless, we need to keep it in mind.

  1. Larry Martin says:

It is interesting the different answer that the sheep and goats give. The sheep answered “when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? The King answered saying to them inasmuch you did it to one of the least of My brethren, you did it to me. The goats answer when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You? The difference is the sheep ministered to others even when they did not see God in it or as doing God’s work. The goats only ministered to those when they saw it as doing God’s work.

  2. Larry Martin says:

Ie the goats said I have done all those things when I thought it was you. The king said to the sheep you did all those things even though you did not think it was me.

  3. Sharon Owen says:

I have never heard anyone speak of why the maidens with the lamps were virgins. Was that a custom? Also, my understanding is that in reference to Mary, Jesus’ mother, that the term “virgin” was not necessarily the only translation.
