July 27- Ch. 27

In Matthew’s narrative of the crucifixion, he says in vv. 55-56, “Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.  Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.”  I wonder why Matthew referred to Jesus’ mother as “Mary the mother of James and Joseph.”  And then later in the chapter and in chapter 28 her refers to her as “the other Mary.”

One Response to July 27- Ch. 27

  1. Larry Martin says:

In verse 1 it says all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death. They turned him over to Pilot. Pilot called Jesus a just man. Later in verse 41 as the leaders and elders are mocking Him they say and admit He saved others. Their taunt was save yourself, come down off the cross and we will believe, some versions believe in Him. They were willing to believe in power or miracles but not the message.
