August 28- 3 John

I was drawn to v. 12 this morning, “Demetrius is well spoken of by everyone—and even by the truth itself.”  The phrase “by the truth itself” intrigues me.  I wonder if John had some special revelation about Demetrius.

August 27- 2 John

So this morning after reading this book, I went back and read my posts over the last several months about it.  It is interesting to see how my thinking about this book has evolved.  I guess that is the best … Continue reading

August 26- 1 John 5

I think it is interesting in v. 1 John uses the term “child” concerning Jesus.  I think this may be the only place that happens.  Any places refers to Jesus as Son of God, God’s son, son of the father, … Continue reading

August 25- 1 John 4

Picking up again on the concept of the antichrist.  John uses the term “spirit of the antichrist.”  I wonder if this is a term John uses speaking of Satan.  As I think about it, he is THE antichrist, and those … Continue reading

August 20- John 20

After reading the account of Thomas and his doubt, I have heard some people say doubting is sinful.  I think that if that was the case, Jesus would have chastised Thomas.  But that is not what happened.  Jesus gave him … Continue reading

August 19- John 19

At the beginning of v. 12 John writes, “From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free…”  When you read it it gives the feeling that Pilate tried a variety  of things over the course of a long time to … Continue reading
